Jules Koundé was very close to leaving Sevilla last summer. The footballer even had a closed agreement with Chelsea to join Tuchel’s team, but finally there was no deal between clubs, as the London team refused to pay the € 80M demanded by Monchi to get rid of the central defender.
Although the Blues’ option seemed to be fading, nothing could be further from the truth and that is because thinking about Rüdiger’s goodbye at the end of the season, it is mandatory for Stamford Bridge to add another level defender. The problem for the reigning European champions is that he will have a tough competitor for the next two transfer windows, Manchester United.
The Old Trafford club already probed the Gallic defender from Seville at the time, but finally opted for his compatriot Varane. Thinking of having more options and alternatives to replace Maguire and the ex-Real Madrid himself, they have recovered the name of Koundé for their agenda.
Although Sevilla transmits tranquility in this regard, the truth is that Koundé has been annoyed for months with the directive and with the technical secretary for not letting him leave, and he will listen to both offers to complete his goodbye from Nervión.
Sevilla, assessing the situation and the discomfort of the French, will accept to lower their claims to 65 “kilos”, a figure that came to be put on the table by Chelsea this past summer. United is the favorite right now but the Blues don’t want to be left out.
