*Update* Homicide in Rodgau: the identity of the deceased is clear

Update: After the autopsy carried out in the meantime, the identity of the man who died in Rodgau over the weekend could now be clarified and the probable cause of death determined.

The dead man is a 46-year-old man from Croatia who has only recently lived in the apartment building on Rochusstrasse. When it came to the cause of death, the investigators assume that the 46-year-old died as a result of sharp violence.

As already reported, on Friday evening (20th), around 9:20 p.m., two men clashed in a ground floor apartment in the Rodgau district of Hainhausen. When the first police patrol arrived a little later, there was a fire there. After the fire brigade had put out the fire, the investigators found a lifeless person whose identity was initially unclear.

A 34-year-old compatriot who was temporarily arrested at the scene of the crime under strong suspicion has not yet made any statements about the allegations. He has been in custody ever since.

At around 9:20 p.m., a dispute in an apartment building on Rochusstrasse was reported. When the police arrived, the officers noticed a fire in the ground floor apartment in question, which first had to be extinguished by the fire brigade. A lifeless person was then found in the apartment, and a doctor called in could only determine death.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been clarified. In an autopsy, it should now be clarified, among other things, who the dead man is and what he died of. The exact background of what happened in the evening is now being determined by the Offenbach criminal police.

The investigators from the police and prosecutors assume that the 34-year-old is connected to the death of the unknown. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, the responsible investigating judge ordered him to be held in custody. He was immediately taken to a correctional facility.
