On Saturday morning, a major incident occurred at the Aura Leisure Center in Letterkenny.
There seems to be a problem with swimming pool water, and some children responded.
It turns out that there were around 50 children in the pool.
Up to six children were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital as a precautionary measure.
At noon, at least four ambulances were outside the complex. Also fire brigade personnel was present.
Gardai was on duty at the entrance and the shots were stopped.
Donegal's councilor Gerry McMonagle told Newstalk that some children "had some kind of allergic reaction in the pool".
And he added, "There were about a dozen ambulances and fire trucks and the Gardaí.
"After asking and asking what happened, I was told that a kind of allergic reaction had occurred in the pool for the children – who were quickly evacuated to a safe place by the Aura staff and contacted emergency services."
"Some kids got sick while swimming, and it seems like a reaction has taken place in the pool area."
It has also been reported that a dark liquid penetrates into the water.
Letterkenny University Hospital has set up its emergency plan.
It is now expected that a comprehensive investigation involving several agencies will be launched.
