House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi welcomes "a new day in America".
After the democrats wanted to take the house, Pelosi addressed cheering supporters.
Unlike the Republicans, Pelosi said, "a democratic congress is conducted with transparency and openness."
"We will drain the swamp of dark interest money."

The Californian Democrat told a press conference earlier in the day that the midterm elections had "led to health care" and a referendum on Republican efforts to scrapp Obamacare.
Pelosi pays tribute to Democratic politicians and activists across the country who have helped stem efforts to lift the Affordable Care Act following the 2016 election results, which left Republicans in control of Congress and the White House.
Pelosi said that the democrats after 2016 "were not agony, we organized".
Pelosi remained noncommittal, given the speculation that she would resign to make room for a new leadership.
Donald Trump called the Californian Democrat to congratulate her party regaining control of the house.
The call came shortly after Pelosis remarks broadcast on the main cable networks.
"President Trump called Leader Pelosi tonight at 11:45 pm (local time) to congratulate him on winning a majority in the Democratic House," Drew Hamill, spokesman for Pelosi, said in a tweet.

Pelosi, a polarizing figure Republicans have been contesting for several electoral cycles, is likely to win the spokesperson again, although some members and elected members have said they would not support them.
Trump beat Pelosi for weeks to convince voters that their party was a "mob" aimed at disrupting the country's economy and allowing illegal immigrants. But he also said he might try to do business with Democrats in some areas.
