The US “maximum pressure” policy aimed at isolating Iran will not work, but the regime would be open to negotiations if the Trump administration returns to Iran’s nuclear deal and falls on economic sanctions, the President said t Hassan Rouhani Sunday.
“Of course, sanctions create some problems naturally, but they won’t give any results to the enemies,” Rouhani said to the state media. “Maximum pressure failed. We are now in a better position in the region.”
Rouhani said that he does not think President Donald Trump wants war with Iran because he would “chance” his chances.
In a rare and unusual attempt to prevent Trump’s powers, eight Seanad Republicans aligned with the Democrats last week to support legislation that would restrict the ability of the president to pay war to Iran. The measure, which goes to the House, showed lawmakers concern that US tensions with Iran could go into full war.
“I think the Americans have not gone after war because they know what harm it could do,” said Rouhani.

Talks could be made if the United States reduced the aggressive sanctions and fulfills the commitments of a Joint Partnership Action Plan which was negotiated by the Obama administration between Iran and global powers, Rouhani said. Trump repeatedly railed against the deal on the election track and, as president, pulled the U. out.
U-Iranian’s relationship has grown further and meets the U drone strike which killed Iran’s most powerful military leader last month. Iran responded to blame airstrikes on more than 100 U soldiers.
Trump, however, expressed recurring interest in talks with Iran. The Department of State did not immediately respond to the US US’s request to express views on Rouhani statements.
Rouhani said that Iran was obliged to restore its commitments to the nuclear deal after other parties to the agreement had restricted their participation after they had been withdrawn.
Rouhani showed little interest in US elections, saying that there is no difference for Iran between the Democrats and the Republicans. Tehran only takes care of her national interests.
“We never sit at the negotiating table with a weak position,” Rouhani said.
