Miguel Henrique Otero, director of the outlet, alerted through his Twitter account that the security forces issued summons not only for Meza, but also for him and four other journalists.

“Attack against journalists from The National. The Prosecutor’s Office and the CICPC went to the home of journalist José Gregorio Meza and took him away for questioning. Four more journalists are being summoned and me… I am in Madrid just in case…”, Henrique Otero wrote on his networks.

It was learned that Meza was transferred from his home to a headquarters of the Criminal and Criminal Scientific Investigation Corpss (CiCPC) to be questioned.

“I have a prosecutor from the Public Ministry and the CICPC at home. They take me to testify about some works that were published in The National. So far only research, they tell me, ”he said on his networks.

The National Union of Press Workers confirmed the arrest.
“We confirm that @ElNacionalWeb journalist José Gregorio Meza was visited this #25Jan at his home, in Caracas, by a prosecutor from the Public Ministry and a CICPC commission that took him to an unidentified place to testify about journalistic work,” they wrote on Twitter.
