Verizon suspends the employee who saved the cat using his work equipment

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear hard hats and yellow cardigans. Maurice German, a Verizon employee, worked in Port Richmond when he answered neighbors' fateful call about their cat Princess Momma, who had stuck to a telephone pole for the past 12 hours. However, what ended as a happy story for the cat ended with a job break for German.

The cat owners were desperate and said they had tried to contact the animal rescue, the fire brigade and other organizations for help but that they had not been successful. Fortunately for them, German accepted the challenge and was recorded in a video from CBS Philly reporter Steve Lindsay, who saved the animal with the help of his company equipment. Well, it appears Verizon has no weakness for kitty rescue videos & responded by suspending the employee. In response to his suspension, the internet has rallied around German in a truly heart-warming way.

Port Richmond, Amanda Fairchild Boyce, living in Pennsylvania, noted that her neighbor's cat was attached to a telephone pole

Boyce told CBS that the cat got stuck on Friday around 9.30 p.m. She and her neighbors had tried to save the cat themselves before they called for help from outside.

One of Boyce Sandy McLeish's neighbors, an animal activist, was the one who found Verizon's employee who agreed to help them with their rescue mission.

The community was touched by Germany's selfless act of goodwill, but Verizon said the worker had endangered himself and the people around him and suspended him. "We are not happy with this promotion," said Verizon spokesperson Rich Young. "However, we are committed and responsible to keep our employees and customers safe while working in a certain area."

In response to the suspension of Verizon, Boyce shot up the company with an online post and asked people to spread his generosity on the internet in support.

Get caught on Germany's story and a bystander of Friday & # 39; s rescue has even created a GoFundMe page to support him, saying: "This generous man is now being punished! Maurice is suspending his job for saving a animal. Let's support Maurice for his good deed while his employer punishes him! "

The donations exceeded the target on Sunday and raised nearly $ 3,000. People who were touched by the story continued to contribute to the case and the donation number continues to rise.
