Veterinarian sentenced to 21 years in prison for sexual abuse of dogs and child pornography

A Florida vet was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison for sexually abusing dogs, posting bestiality videos online, and collecting child pornography. Prosecutors say Prentiss K. Madden, a 40-year-old whose studio was in Aventura, Florida, produced videos of himself having sex with dogs and shared them in online chats. They say he also received numerous child pornography images, archived them on his cell phone, and talked about them online.

Madden pleaded guilty to child pornography, animal crushing and animal torture, which include sexual abuse. His lawyers have called for a lighter sentence, partly based on Madden’s claims that he suffered from mental problems as a result of abuse by his parents and a family friend as a child. Once released, Madden will remain on probation for 25 years and must register in Florida as a sex offender.
