Armed clashes between fans in the stands resulted in the suspension of the Argentine second division match between Independiente Ribadabia and Atlanta, at dawn on Monday.
And the police explained that its decision to stop the match stems from its failure to guarantee the safety of those present at the Al-Liqa stadium, after armed fans clashed in the stands of the “Mendoza” stadium.
The referee removed the players from the stadium shortly after the match started and suspended it for 20 minutes after the clashes erupted before he decided to end the match, and the result indicates a 0-0 draw.
Television footage showed fans armed with knives and banners burning behind a goal in Mendoza stadium.
Argentine media group TEC reported that two people were wounded in the violent clashes in the stands.
This incident is the latest in a long series of violent clashes with Argentine soccer fields, most of which relate to fanatical groups called “Paras Brava” linked to many clubs.
