VIDEO: China puts the Earth observation satellite Gaofen-3 02 into orbit

The satellite will connect with Gaofen-3 01 to form a satellite network that will allow rapid access to terrestrial and marine observations.

China on Tuesday launched a Long March-4C carrier rocket with the Gaofen-3 02 ground-observation satellite on board, which successfully entered orbit, reports the Chinese Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The rocket lifted off at 7:45 a.m. (local time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center and marked the 398th launch of the Long March series carrier rockets.

According to the institution of the Asian country, Gaofen-3 02 is a microwave remote sensing satellite that could meet the needs of different sectors, as well as be used to monitor the environment and meteorological conditions. The satellite will connect with Gaofen-3 01 to form a satellite network that will allow rapid access to terrestrial and marine observations.
