Video conference with Bill Gates while crying and exhausted; Melinda Gate on divorce

After 27 years of marriage, Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his wife Melinda separated last year. Now Melinda is revealing how she moved on after her divorce. In an interview with Fortune magazine, Melinda said that despite the pain, she continues to perform better every day. Even after the divorce, the two continue to work together on the Bill and Melinda Foundation.

French Gates said that as a leader, he can control emotions and work independently. “Sometimes by 9 o’clock I’m crying. Meanwhile, there will be a video conference with Bill Gates at 10 o’clock. I will give my best performance there,” Melinda told Fortune magazine. “We have worked with partners around the world who are struggling during the Covid-19 pandemic,” she said.

Bill Gates and Melinda broke up due to various reasons. Both have publicly cited an encounter with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein as one of the reasons. Gates said in an interview with CNN that he had several dinners with Epstein to raise money for charity.

‘When it felt like it wasn’t the right thing to do, the relationship ended. Spending time with him was a big mistake,” Gates added.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Bill Gates said that in his view it was a perfect marriage. He had said that nothing had changed after the divorce and that he had no desire to marry someone else.

They got married in 1994 in Hawaii. The two met in 1987 when Melind was looking for a job as a product manager at Microsoft. In her 2019 memoir ‘The Moment of Lift’, Melinda Gates wrote about her childhood, life and personal struggles as a celebrity wife and a stay-at-home mother with three children. After meeting at a work dinner, Melinda captured Bill Gates’ heart after sharing a mutual love of puzzles and beating him at a math game.

In 2020, Bill Gates resigned from the Microsoft board of directors. This was to focus more on voluntary work. He was the CEO of Microsoft until 2000 and gradually reduced his stake in the company. Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975 with Paul Allen. Bill Gates continued as the Chairman of the Board till 2014.
