Video: Several dead after riots in India

According to authorities and hospitals, numerous people have died after riots between protesters in India’s capital, New Delhi. Many people are also in critical condition in the hospital, said a hospital employee. The police were able to resolve the violent clashes on Tuesday with tear gas and smoke grenades. Protesters threw stones. A police spokesman said, “The main reason for this was the overcrowded area. The population there is very mixed, so there have been a few incidents.” In India, two interest groups face each other in the dispute over a new immigration law. The law was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu-nationalist government. Critics say the law is against Muslims and the constitution of India. The protests had started earlier this week.
