Venice without quarantine

The tourists are slowly returning to the lagoon city of Venice. After Italy lifted the quarantine requirement for travelers from the EU, the countries of the Schengen area, Great Britain and Israel on Sunday, holidays can now be taken here with a single negative test. Roberto Menin works in an ice cream shop. The business lives from tourism. “We know it will be a while before the tourists come back. You saw a few over the weekend, but it’s still very quiet.” He also mentions that the city was overcrowded for his taste before the pandemic. As a result, the city does not have to be as full as before. Tourism accounts for around 13 percent of the Italian economy. After what felt like a lost year, the industry can only allow itself another summer without visitors to a limited extent. The EU plans to start a unified system for recording COVID-19 vaccinations, tests and recovered persons from June to allow more exercise.
