During the summer retreat, Volker Reuter was elected as the new chairman of the rectors’ conference of the HAW and thus also of the umbrella organization HAW BW eV for the next two years. The mathematician has been rector of the Ulm University of Applied Sciences since 2015 and has been on the board of the conference for two years.
In addition, Katja Rade, Rector of the University of Applied Sciences Stuttgart and André Bleicher, Rector of the University of Biberach were elected to the new board and thus complete the new management team.
After eight years of successful work as chairman, Bastian Kaiser, Rector of the University of Forestry, no longer stood for election as chairman. With his many years of experience in this position and as university rector, he will remain with the board of directors around Volker Reuter.
Gerhard Schneider and Hendrik Brumme are leaving the board. The rectors of the universities of Aalen and Reutlingen have represented the type of university excellently as board members for many years. The new chairman thanks them for their commitment and the voluntary work, which brings with it deadlines and tasks to a considerable extent.
In recent years, Hendrik Brumme had campaigned for a consistent digitization strategy for the HAW in the state and built up a unique cooperation structure for the 24 HAW, which is financially supported by the Ministry of Science.
Gerhard Schneider has been responsible for research at HAW since his first election to the board in 2011 and worked tirelessly to improve the framework conditions for application-oriented research in the state. He strongly advocates that the HAW association also has its own right to award doctorates in Baden-Württemberg.
