Warrant issued to the Secretary of Education of Puerto Rico

An arrest warrant has been issued for the Education Secretary of Puerto Rico.

The US law firm told the Associated Press that a judge issued an arrest warrant for Julia Keleher on Wednesday. Spokeswoman Lymarie Llovet said she has no further details and the documents in the case are sealed.

Llovet said the US law firm had not sought the arrest warrant. It is unclear who did this or why.

A Keleher spokesman did not immediately return a message seeking a comment. Keleher was named Education Secretary in December 2016 and clashed with union members over the closure of schools and other issues in the midst of a twelve-year recession with union members.
