Waszczykowski comments on the words of von der Leyen

The former head of Polish diplomacy, Witold Waszczykowski, referred to the words of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, about the elections in Italy.

The head of the European Commission “threatens” the Italians

Let us recall that due to the fall of Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s government, early parliamentary elections are scheduled for Sunday in Italy. According to polls, the right-wing coalition, headed by Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the Brothers Italians group, has a chance for victory and independent rule.

Referring to the vote, the head of the European Commission said in an interview with the media: “We will see what will be the result of the elections in Italy. If things go in a difficult direction, we have tools, just like in the case of Hungary and Poland.”

The statement of the head of the European Commission met with wide criticism, while the spokesman of the European Commission Eric Mamer assured that von der Leyen “did not interfere in any way” with Italian politics.

Waszczykowski on “aggression of European institutions”

Commenting on the behavior of the President of the European Commission, Waszczykowski said: “I am not surprised by this, because looking at this aggression by European institutions on Poland for several years and now looking at it from the perspective of the European Parliament, I see a very unfavorable position of the left-liberal majority towards the Polish government. “.

Then the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that in his opinion Brussels would suspend the payment of EU funds to Poland, so that “they would not help the Polish government in the elections”.
