Weather for today, Wednesday, May 11: Rains will ‘lighten’ these states

Despite the fact that the National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts a slight drop in temperatures from this Wednesday May 11the hot environment will continue to predominate in most of the national territory throughout the day.

The maximum temperatures that can reach 40 to 45 degrees will be presented in Campeche, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Sonora and Sinaloa.

While in Baja California Sur, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Colima, Durango, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Veracruz, Yucatán and Zacatecas, temperatures from 35 to 40 degrees.

While the “lightest” ones, which will be from 30 to 35 degrees, are expected to occur in Aguascalientes, Baja California, Mexico City and Guanajuato.

Rains and possible whirlwinds in the north of the country

Although the heat will dominate much of this morning Wednesdaya drastic drop in temperature is expected in the afternoon, so there could also be heavy rains in several states in the north and southeast of the country.

Heavy rains are forecast in Chiapas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Veracruz; as well as showers in Campeche, Colima, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, Yucatán and Zacatecas.

Isolated rains are also expected in Aguascalientes, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Nayarit, Nuevo León and Sinaloa.

The SMN asked the population of northern states to exercise caution as possible tornadoes are forecast, which will be generated by the dry line located in that part of the country, instability in the upper atmosphere and low pressure channels in the north, east and southeast of Mexico.

This Wednesday there will be wind with gusts of 70 to 80 kilometers per hour (km/h) in Chihuahua and Coahuila that could cause whirlwinds and even tornadoes in both states.

Finally, dust devils are expected for Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Durango, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, Tamaulipas, Zacatecas and the region of the Isthmus and Gulf of Tehuantepec.
