Offenbach (dpa / lrs) – First winter weather expected for the weekend: In Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, snow and sometimes strong gusts are to be expected. As the German Weather Service (DWD) announced in Offenbach on Wednesday, it will remain mostly dry on Friday, but snow can fall in higher altitudes and there is also a risk of slipperiness.
During the course of the day, fresh winds and even strong gusts can be expected in the Eifel. The temperatures are between two and five degrees. On Thursday, the autumn weather will initially remain. The sky is overcast, but every now and then the sun should show up. Temperatures are above freezing.
On the night of Saturday, it should rain at low altitudes with temperatures of two to zero degrees. Sometimes sleet could also occur. In the mountainous region, snow and slippery surfaces can be expected at temperatures between zero and minus two degrees.
During the day there should be light rain or sleet and mostly moderate wind on Saturday. However, snow can fall again at higher altitudes. The temperatures reach three to five degrees. According to the weather service, it will be cloudy on the night of Sunday, and sleet or snow may fall again locally. The temperatures drop to between one and minus three degrees, which increases the risk of slipperiness.
