Leipzig (dpa) – Contrary to fears, Saxony, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt were spared stormy rainfall in many places on Friday evening. It rained the most in the Magdeburg region, with up to 25 liters per square meter in one hour, explained Sebastian Balders from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Leipzig. The meteorologists had previously warned of severe weather – there was talk of thunderstorms up to level 4 of 4.
