WhatsApp doubles maximum number of participants in group chats | NOW

WhatsApp users can now create group chats with up to 512 participants. The chat service has started to gradually roll out the update for all WhatsApp versions on Friday.

The rollout of the update was first noticed by WABetaInfo† The site had already encountered the feature in an earlier test version of WhatsApp.

The feature was previously only available to a small group of testers, but now it looks like all WhatsApp users will be able to expand the size of their group chats. Previously, users could create groups with up to 256 participants.

WhatsApp has been rolling out several major updates in recent months. For example, since last week it is possible to share media files of 2 GB. This can be photos, videos or documents. The chat app would also work on the ability to change text messages.
