WhatsApp now allows a contact to be silenced forever

by archyw

WhatsApp will soon allow a contact or a group to be silenced forever. This new feature is available in beta and should be introduced with the next app update.

Good news for WhatsApp users, it seems that Facebook – owner of the messaging app – is about to integrate a new feature that will finally allow users to mutate a conversation for an unlimited time.

This is a very practical option to get rid of unwanted conversations, without choosing the most drastic option: blocking the contacts in question.

It was already possible to transfer a group or a contact for a limited time. Three options were offered so far: 8 hours, a week or a year. The last one has just been replaced by “Forever”. In other words, you can mutate a conversation without worrying about having to do it again later.

According to WABetaInfo, the new option will be introduced with version 2.20.201.10 of the app which is currently only available to beta program members. It remains to be seen when this version will be deployed for all users.
