WhatsApp will soon let you pin messages

WhatsApp is testing message pinning in beta version 2.23.7.3 for Android. You can’t test pinning messages on iOS for now. Those who see the feature appear in beta will be able to pin individual messages to the top of the conversation, according to the website. It is not known whether multiple messages can be pinned within one conversation.

Posts once pinned appear in a white strip at the top of the screen, according to WaBetaInfo. You can get the message directly in front of you by clicking on that notification.

In the meantime, it remains unknown whether the pinned messages are visible to all participants. For group conversations, such a pinned message can be of great value. For example, Telegram admins often use the feature to pin house rules for the group conversation. At the same time, for a personal conversation, it does not have to be the case that both sides find a message so important that it has to be in pole position. Of course you can also save such a message as a favourite, but pinning a message may be just a bit more clear for some.

Rollout to beta versions

So for the time being we are left with more questions than answers. The feature is already in the pipeline for Android users. Those with the beta version may be able to expect the pinned posts as soon as possible. If you are on the stable version, the rollout will probably take a few weeks or even months.

Whether the operation during the final roll-out is the same as the images that WaBetaInfo shares, of course depends on the beta tests. So take the shared information with a grain of salt and wait for the stable rollout.
