Recently there were rumors that Gerardo Seoane had aroused the interest of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Now another Bundesliga team is apparently hot for the YB coach.
Peter Bosz had to vacate his position as coach of Bayer Leverkusen two weeks ago. “In view of the development of football in recent weeks, we have come to the conclusion that the separation from Peter Bosz can no longer be avoided,” said Bayer Managing Director Rudi Völler.
Also means that Gerardo Seoane and the Young Boys, who kicked Leverkusen in the Europa League with two wins from the competition in February, are jointly responsible for the dismissal of the coach. And now Seoane of all people could possibly take over from Bosz. At least the YB coach appears in a list of candidates from “Sport Bild”.
Hannes Wolf took over the Werkself until the end of the season. Whether he can stay depends on whether he can still lead Leverkusen into the Champions League. Bayer is currently in 6th place, qualifying for the Europa League. The gap to Frankfurt and fourth place is seven points. In addition to Wolf and Seoane, Nico Kovac and Jesse Marsch are other well-known coaches on the Leverkusen list of “Sport Bild”.
The 42-year-old Swiss would fit perfectly into the requirement profile. “It has to match our style of play,” says Bayer sports director Simon Rolfes of “Sport Bild”. “In addition, that we play offensively, that we play with a lot of possession, that we continue to integrate young players.”
Gladbach is also interested
It is not the first Bundesliga rumor about Seoane. Just a few weeks ago, speculation made the rounds that the YB coach could replace Marco Rose as Gladbach’s coach. Rose will leave the “foals” for Dortmund at the end of the season. “I know that Seoane is an issue at Gladbach,” said Marcel Reif to “blue Sport” in February. Previously, the “Bild” newspaper had reported the interest from Gladbach.
Seoane only extended his contract in Bern early in December until summer 2023. Nevertheless, it is quite possible that he will now want to take the next step in his career. In 2018 he came to YB from Lucerne and is now facing his third championship title in Bern.
