Six wins in a row: VfL Wolfsburg rushes from victory to victory. Can the Wolves continue their winning streak in Bremen?
No other team survived the long World Cup break as well as VfL Wolfsburg. A 6-0 win over SC Freiburg, who were second in the table at the time, was followed by a 5-0 win over Hertha BSC. Coach Niko Kovac’s team was thus able to continue the run that had already begun before the World Cup. Today the northern duel is against Werder Bremen, which is currently in crisis. Bremen has lost all of the last four games.
Otavio is back
VfL coach Niko Kovac can fall back on his left-back Paulo Otavio in today’s game. Most recently, Kovac had to change the team because Otavio had missed his fifth yellow card and no replacement was available. However, Felix and Lukas Nmecha will still be missing. The rest of the team is fit and ready to go.
