Ercan Kara has been living in the USA for around 14 months. However, since moving from SK Rapid Vienna to Orlando City, he has not been an issue with the ÖFB team.
Since Ralf Rangnick has been the ÖFB team boss, the center forward has not yet been included in the squad. Much to Kara’s regret. “I wish I was there too,” explains the 27-year-old in an interview with “Sky”.
“Before I came here, I was on call the last time, now I’m not anymore,” says Kara, who has been allowed to play for Austria’s national team seven times since November 2021 – at that time still under Franco Foda – but no longer in the squad was standing. “You can’t hang your head, I score my goals here and play my game here.”
“I would like to be there every time, I score my goals, I show my performances here and whether you see me or not is not in my hands. That’s why I do my job here, score my goals and try as much as possible possible to play and just wait for the phone to ring”, Kara is far from giving up the dream of further ÖFB assignments.
Not a high level in the MLS? “That’s how every European thinks”
Kara still thinks she’s in good hands in Orlando. The 27-year-old cannot subscribe to theses that the level in the MLS cannot keep up with that in Europe: “That’s how every European thinks before he was in the MLS and when he’s in the MLS, he thinks the quality is there good.”
“All I can say is you have to come here, you have to play here and maybe you have to watch games. I think it’s a really good league. A lot happens, everyone can beat everyone. There are a lot of surprises, very nice to look at and it’s a lot of fun to play in the league,” said Kara.
Since arriving in Orlando, Kara has appeared in 37 competitive games, in which he has contributed 13 goals and three assists. By winning the US Open Cup last season, he was also able to win a title.
