Li Xiaoshuang, general manager of the Xiaomi TV division, spoke about the company's plans for the further development of the smart TV direction.
This week, Xiaomi officially unveiled its next-generation smart TVs – the Mi TV 5 and Mi TV 5 Pro series panels. The Pro family features a high-quality Quantum Dot QLED quantum dot display with 108 percent NTSC color gamut coverage.
As Mr. Xiaoshuan now said, Xiaomi is designing premium smart TVs. They will be equipped with an Organic LED Display (OLED), which provides excellent color reproduction and deep black color.
Xiaomi intends to introduce OLED TVs in the first quarter of next year. Most likely, such panels will have a resolution of 4K (3840 × 2160 pixels). There is no information about the size of the display yet.
In addition, Li Xiaoshuang revealed that Xiaomi is developing 8K devices. We recall that such panels have a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, which is four times more compared to 4K. However, the release dates for 8K-TVs under the Xiaomi brand have not yet been reported.
