The Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM) warns of thunderstorms that could occur across the country on Sunday afternoon as well as in the evening.
The weather will initially be dry and quite warm with clearings on Sunday, before the arrival of showers and thunderstorms from the French border in the course of the afternoon.
The maximum will be between 23 ° C in Hautes-Fagnes as well as at sea and 27 ° C in Campine.
Hail, gales and a lot of precipitation could occur within a short period of time during the evening. Calm will nevertheless return during the night, with minima ranging between 12 and 17 ° C and a risk of haze or fog.
The IRM issues a yellow alert to thunderstorms from 2 p.m. to midnight, across the country.
The number 1722 activated
The Interior SPF activated the intervention number 1722 on Sunday morning due to a risk of storm or heavy precipitation.
The aim of this number is to unclog 112 emergency centers and not keep people whose life is potentially in danger waiting. It is not an emergency number, but an intervention number in case of need of the fire brigade.
“The activation of the number 1722 is preventive when a storm or heavy rains are announced. This activation does not bode well for the seriousness of the warning and the extent of the possible damage, ”specifies the FPS Interior.
Monday, new thunderstorms will punctuate the morning. The weather will always be quite warm – at least in the east of the country where the mercury will still reach 27 ° C.
The following days will be marked by the persistence of variable and stormy weather, but the thermometer will lose a few degrees with maximums around 22 ° C in the center.
