Werder Bremen holds all promotion stocks before the 34th matchday in their own hands. A draw against Jahn Regensburg is enough to make the direct resurgence perfect. Jurica Vranjes firmly believes that his former club will leave the 2nd Bundesliga behind after a season.
“Werder Bremen only needs one more point – so why should that go wrong? I don’t see any reason to be afraid. The boys will do it!” the Croatian writes in a post for the portal DeichStube. “Immediate resurgence would be a huge success, and also a confirmation for Frank Baumann, who has been heavily criticized,” Vranjes continued. The head of sports, with whom the 42-year-old himself played at Werder, then sees himself under pressure.
“At least three or four good signings”
“You need a different quality for the Bundesliga. You don’t need ten new players, but at least three or four good newcomers,” Vranjes is convinced. His wish list includes a new centre-back, a leader in midfield and a striker who could guarantee ten goals in the top flight. “Because I don’t think Marvin Ducksch will deliver as well in the Bundesliga as he does now,” explains Vranjes. Basically, it is very important that Werder Bremen get more speed: “If you don’t have speed, you’re dead in this league.”
