Bargteheide – Squad planning at the TSV Bargteheide Bees keeps going. And again the additions come from Eimsbütteler TV. The two youngsters Carl Ceesay (19 years) and Ibrahim Jabby (20), who are also good friends, switch from ProB relegated to the Bees.

“Ibo and Carl made a big leap in the ProB season last year and, especially in the second half of the season, got a lot of play and used it very well,” says Bees trainer Şükran Gencay, who previously coached the ETV. “Both bring youthful carefreeness and joy of playing but at the same time a lot of ambition, speed and energy to the team. I am very happy to be able to continue working with the two of them, because I know how much potential there is still lying dormant. The Bargteheider fans can look forward to two very likeable and dynamic young players.”

Ceesay is a versatile, athletic forward who has averaged 10 minutes in 11 ProB games. At the same time, he was an integral part of the ETV Oberliga team, which became Hamburg champions and narrowly failed in the cup final to regional league club TSG Bergedorf. Point guard Jabby also had a good ten minutes per game in the ProB (24 games) and also played six games in the Oberliga.

“When planning the squad, we pay particular attention to ensuring that all players fit our character and can embody the Bees identity. Carl and Ibo fit in perfectly,” says Bees sports director Said Ghalamkarizadeh. “I am pleased that we were able to convince such great talents and I am very excited about their development.”

Jabby, who is 1.86 meters tall, was trained at SC Rist and has played for Wedeler since elementary school and later also for their cooperation partner Hamburg Towers in the JBBL and NBBL. The playmaker switched to ETV for the 2021/22 season.

“I developed well under Şükran, I feel good with her. With the Bees I would now like to build on my development in the ProB, take the next step and recommend myself for higher tasks,” says Jabby, who receives jersey number 21 with the Bees.

Ceesay comes from the ETV youth and also gained experience in JBBL and NBBL of the Towers. The 1.97 meter man also spent a year at a high school in the USA (2018/19).

“Şükran is a big reason for my move. But I also really liked the existing team with a very confident core. There are also a few players from my old team, with whom I not only get on really well, but who also increase the level of the team,” says Ceesay, who will play number 8 for the Bees. “I am very happy that I can continue to play with Ibo. It’s always difficult when you’re promoted, but I think we can do something with the team.”

The Bees squad now has twelve players. “The plans are not yet complete, some talks are about to be completed,” says sporting director Ghalamkarizadeh.

Preparations for the first season in the 1st Regionalliga Nord also started on Monday with at least three training sessions per week. Due to the limited hall capacity in Bargteheide, a hall in Hamburg was also rented. Up until the start of the season on September 17th in Potsdam, five friendlies against teams from the ProB, 1st and 2nd regional leagues are planned.
