Zelensky will go to Austria today
There is a humanitarian disaster in the occupied Donbass, so pro-Ukrainian residents can start a riot, Zelensky said.
Residents of the uncontrolled Donbass will soon rebel against the so-called “LPNR” authorities, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He expressed this opinion in an interview with the Austrian edition of the Wiener Zeitung.
“Many of these people are sick with coronavirus, we are dealing with a humanitarian disaster there. And people who live in the occupied part of Donbass can see how Ukrainians live on the other side of the front, namely better. The miners in the occupied Donbass are doing badly: they do not receive normal wages and are forced to pay for water and electricity at a high price. If the patience of people there at some point runs out, riots may arise, “Zelensky said.
When asked if it would be easier to freeze the conflict – for example, as in Moldova, where Transnistria is also a separatist region, Zelenskiy noted that there are people who would like to. However, Donbass is home to three million Ukrainians, which is more than in some European countries.
Zelenskiy believes that an internal conflict may arise in the occupied territory of Donbass, since many people are pro-Ukrainian.
We will remind that last week in Berlin a meeting of political advisers of the heads of the Normandy Four took place, the main achievement of which was the decision to extend the silence regime in the Donbas, which has been in effect since July 27.
