16 short narrative films at the Baghdad Film Festival »

The head of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate, head of the first Baghdad Film Festival, Jabbar Jodi Al-Aboudi, announced the selection of 16 short feature films at the Baghdad Film Festival.

Al-Aboudi told the (INA), that “the preparatory committee for the festival, which is held by the Iraqi Artists Syndicate in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Cinema and Theater, under the auspices of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani for the period from the tenth to the fourteenth of February 2024,” Muhammad’s session. Shukri Jameel “decided to accept sixteen films to participate in the short narrative film competition from among the Arab and Iraqi films submitted for the festival.”
He added, “The entries include four films from Egypt, two films from Bahrain, and one film each from: Tunisia, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Morocco, and five Iraqi films,” explaining that “the films are: (Transit) directed by Baqir Al-Rubaie and (Khataf) (by Yasser Al-Assam, (My Mother’s Hand) by Cardinia Haiman, (Duwairah) by Saif Sabah, (Kimmer Arab) directed by Rania Hamza from Iraq, (16 ml) by Abdullah Jad, (Issa I Promise You in Paradise) by Murad Mustafa, and (Fatema) by Ahmed Adel and ( “The Canal” was directed by Jad Shaheen from Egypt, “Half Soul” was directed by Marwan Trabelsi from Tunisia, “Palestine 87” was directed by Bilal Al-Khatib from Palestine, “The Hole” was directed by Ali Bazi from Lebanon, “Isolation” was directed by Jamal Ghailan, and “The Mermaid” was directed by Muhammad. Atiq from Bahrain, (Photograph) directed by Al-Muhannad Kulthum from Syria, and (The Last Wave) by Mustafa Fermati from Morocco.
Judi confirmed that “the festival will soon announce the films participating in the feature film competition, and a list of the names of an elite group of prominent Arab film makers and critics, directors of Arab film festivals, and their Iraqi counterparts at home and abroad, and various cinematic events, programs and activities.”
He pointed out that “there is a (New Cinematic Spaces Competition), which includes ten short and new Iraqi feature films produced under the Iraqi Artists Syndicate grant, in a first for the first time in Iraqi and Arab festivals, with the aim of activating the cinematic movement in Iraq and supporting energies and competencies.”
