Today, Sunday, the Finance Committee in the House of Representatives discussed with the Ministry of Finance the completion of the federal general budget schedules for the fiscal year 2024.
The committee stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “the Finance Committee, headed by Atwan Al-Atwani and in the presence of its members, hosted on Sunday, 1/21/2024, the Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, to discuss a number of important financial files, and the Chairman of the Committee welcomed the Minister of Finance at the beginning of the hosting, stressing The importance of holding the meeting to discuss financial issues, spending, and completing the tables for the 2024 budget, in addition to the topics of the amounts added to purchase energy, compensation for employees and examiners, and the implementation of projects included in the government plan, adding that there are meetings and field visits to institutions to review all the details.
She added, “The Finance Committee discussed the possibility of diversifying non-oil revenues and not relying on oil revenues, and the necessity of moving towards multiple revenues to achieve self-sufficiency and end the deficit, in addition to the financial amounts for the round for the year 2023.”
She continued, “For her part, the Minister of Finance presented an explanation of the procedures for financing institutions and implementing the tripartite budget after its publication in the Official Gazette, as well as the mechanism for financing projects and opening accounts for state departments, explaining that financing projects is done according to allocations and listing requirements, stressing the importance of amending components and violations, in coordination with the Ministry of Planning.” In addition to the issue of regional revenues.
She stated that “the committee listened to the problems facing the ministry in preparing the budget schedules for the year 2024, and the plan prepared to bridge the deficit, pay off foreign debts, and finance institutions and governorate projects, and discussed developing appropriate solutions, and the ministry took its role in finding alternatives, and the interventions of the gentlemen of the Finance Committee included Allocations for governorate projects and how to include them in the 2024 budget tables, in addition to the issue of customs tariffs, and the estimated price of oil according to estimates, with the non-oil revenues of the budget.”
She noted that “at the conclusion of the meeting, the committee requested all data and details of the actual expenditure and deficit, through official letters, stressing the speedy preparation of the budget tables and sending them to the committee for review and voting on them.”
