Nasser Saleh Al-Asadi, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Transport Affairs, announced today, Monday, the completion of 600 km within the initial design of the development road. While he confirmed that the preliminary designs of the road are nearing completion, he pointed to the agreement with Turkey to build a bridge linking the two countries.

Al-Asadi told the (INA): “We have reached very advanced stages regarding the development path, as we held a meeting two days ago in Turkey regarding the project and discussed the idea of ​​operation,” indicating that “there are agreements between the project management and the governorates to end the conflicts that hinder work.”
He added, “What remains is a small distance in northern Iraq and part of Basra, due to the presence of war remnants and some obstacles that hinder the access of soil testing companies to the region,” pointing out that “more than 600 km have been completed within the initial design of the development road.”
He stated, “We are in the stage of developing the technical specifications for the project,” pointing out that “there are agreements with Turkey regarding the construction of a bridge linking Turkey and Iraq with a length of approximately 2,000 meters.”
He stressed, “The construction of the development road is divided into two parts: the first is strategic economic planning, and the second is technical engineering, in which we have achieved very advanced stages, and we have concluded the contract with the company (Oliver Wyman), which will develop the financial and economic idea and economic model for this project.”
He stressed that “the initial designs are nearing completion and the designs remain to be reviewed by the specialized consultant and then announced as a global tender for participation in it,” pointing out that “the project includes sectors in every governorate, and we are now studying where work will begin on it and whether it will start from the port of Al-Faw.” “Up.”
He stated, “The development road’s train will start from south to north, and the land road will start from north to south and will be completed in the same time period.”
He pointed out, “The Turkish position is very wonderful. They are major partners in the project and have the designs of roads and railways that will be connected to Europe, whether east or west.”
