Today, Sunday, the Karkh Court of Appeal announced a three-pronged plan to combat corruption, while indicating the need to expand prosecutions for all parties to the crime and not limit the prosecution of employees.
The Deputy President of the Court/Judge of the Integrity Investigation Court, Dhia Jaafar, said in a speech during the first anti-corruption conference, which was received by the (INA): “The plan prepared by the judiciary to combat corruption included three axes: the first is preventive, and the second is to follow up on crimes and prosecute their perpetrators.” Expanding financial investigations parallel to reparation, and the third is raising awareness and spreading culture about the necessity of combating corruption crimes.”
He added, “The esteemed Federal Court of Cassation followed the advanced interpretation of the legal texts and facts, and following this interpretation led to expanding prosecutions for all parties to the crime, and not only pursuing employees.”
