Algeria begins producing the Corona vaccine locally with 200 million doses annually

Algerian Prime Minister Ayman Ben Abdel Rahman announced today, Wednesday, the start of production of a local vaccine for the Corona virus, in partnership with Chinese Sinovac laboratories, with 200 million doses annually.

Ibn Abdel Rahman said, according to what was reported on state television, “After giving the signal to start producing the vaccine, we congratulate Algeria on this great achievement.”
The Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry in Algeria said, “The Sidal factory in Constantine (east) is preparing to produce the CoronaVac vaccine in accordance with a production license obtained from Sinovac.”
According to figures from the Ministry, the factory’s production capacity is estimated at 200 million doses annually. It will start with one million doses next October, and will gradually increase in 2022 to a rate of 16 million doses per month.
