Barcelona has decided to offer one of its prominent players for sale during the upcoming summer Mercato, according to a press report.
According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport”, Barcelona is forced to sell important players, in order to be able to sign new players, according to the Financial Fair Play law.
The newspaper indicated that one of the deceased must be a defender.
Barcelona officials were choosing between the duo, Andreas Christensen and Inigo Martinez, before they settled on selling the former, because his deal would bring greater financial gains.
The newspaper added that Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has already met with Christensen’s agent to discuss the future of the Danish defender, who is of interest to Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Barcelona intends to compensate for Christensen’s departure by bringing back the Moroccan player, Shadi Riad, who is loaned to Real Betis.
It is noteworthy that the Blaugrana occupies third place in the La Liga table, with 41 points, 7 points behind leaders Real Madrid and runner-up Girona.
