The General Company for Electric Power Production in the Central Region explained, at the Ministry of Electricity, today, Sunday, its plan to increase production rates, revealing that the production rate has been raised to 10,500 megawatts for the national grid.
The company’s general manager, Ali Ahmed, told the (INA): “After the end of the summer season annually, the units are prepared for the subsequent summer season, as the annual maintenance work takes place during the periods of minimum load, that is, during the winter season, and during this period the units are turned off on a scheduled basis.” In coordination with the National Control Center and after obtaining the necessary approvals from the technical departments at the Ministry’s headquarters.”
He added, “Maintenance periods range from (30-45) days, and it depends on the nature and type of maintenance for the units that are stopped,” indicating that “the purpose of the maintenance periods is to extend the operating life of the units, and remove the technical symptoms that appear during the period of their previous operation.” and improve its performance.”
He pointed out, “Maintenance work is carried out sequentially for the units and returned to the system, meaning that the extinguishing process does not take place at one time, but rather on a scheduled basis, and during a period of (30-45) days it is operated.”
Ahmed stressed that “routine maintenance work continues for the operating units, which are also turned off during this period, to remove minor symptoms, which require turning off the units for limited periods ranging from one to two days, after obtaining the necessary approvals from the Operation and Control Department, for the purpose of organizing the load distribution process.” “.
He explained, “The General Company for Energy Production in the Central Region is responsible for four governorates, which are Baghdad, Wasit, Anbar, and Diyala.”
He pointed out that “the rate of production achieved in the previous summer rose to more than 10,000 to 10,500 megawatts, which represents a percentage of (40-42%) of the total production of the Ministry of Electricity,” stressing that “pre-preparation by carrying out maintenance work, It led to increased production.”
He stressed that “the Jerusalem station’s production rate reached 1,000 megawatts, after the introduction of cooling systems on the turbine units, which include 4 units.”
He stated, “The Ministry and the company’s plan includes adding loads to units that were not introduced, due to the scarcity of fuel and gas, including crutch units, in addition to introducing cooling systems to contribute to raising electrical energy production,” noting that “some of the stations were suffering from fuel scarcity, therefore This issue will be addressed during this year in the geographical area related to medium production.”
