A press report revealed the possible length of absence for Portuguese full-back Joao Cancelo after he suffered a knee ligament injury during his team Barcelona’s match against Las Palmas in the Spanish League.
Although the Catalan club issued an official statement about the nature of the Portuguese international’s injury, it did not reveal the duration of his absence.
But the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo confirmed that coach Xavi Hernandez cannot count on Cancelo in the Spanish Super Cup this month.
She added: “Cancelo will be absent for a period of no less than two weeks, and the extent of his ability to play against Real Betis will be determined later.”
The player, loaned from Manchester City, left the match only 11 minutes after it started, as he seemed unable to continue normally before he was replaced.
