Central Japan was exposed to 155 earthquakes, most of which exceeded 3 in magnitude, and residents felt six additional strong tremors on Tuesday morning.

Defense Minister Minoru Kihara announced that a thousand soldiers were preparing to head to the region, while 8,500 others were placed on alert. About twenty military aircraft were sent to assess the damage.

Pictures broadcast on Japanese television showed a fire breaking out in Wajima, causing damage to several buildings due to the earthquake, and electricity was cut off to about 33,500 homes in Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata prefectures, all of which are located on the side of the Sea of ​​Japan on the island of Honshu in Japan.
