Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola won the World’s Best Coach award for the year 2023, during the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)’s “The Best” awards ceremony in the English capital, London.

In the race for the award, Guardiola beat Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi, and former Napoli coach and current Italian national team coach Luciano Spalletti.
Guardiola’s choice was not surprising, after he led Manchester City to win a historic treble last season (the English Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League), and he also won the European Super Cup with him last August.
Guardiola is also considered the first coach in history to win three league titles, a cup and two Champions League titles, after he previously led Barcelona to achieve this achievement in 2009.
This is the first time that Guardiola has won the award under its current name (the Best Award), after his name appeared on the final list of nominees 3 previous times in the years 2019, 2021 and 2022.
