Government spending on advertising is a global strategy in marketing state projects »

Baghdad – IA
The Digital Media Center (DMC) confirmed that government spending on advertising is a global strategy in marketing the country’s projects, stressing the need to strengthen it.

In a statement received by the (INA), the Center stressed the importance of the Iraqi government keeping pace with the new marketing models required by the digital age, and following modern advertising methods in marketing its strategies, which together contribute to reducing the blackmail to which official institutions are exposed.
The center pointed out that “remaining on the old advertising methods that controlled traditional media in the pre-digital age has become futile and cannot produce positive results or tangible effects on reality by relying on them alone,” stressing “the necessity of benefiting from the experiences of countries.” “Advanced in this field, some of them spend millions of dollars annually to advertise in modern media represented by social media platforms.”
The center stated that “the radical changes that have occurred in recent years to the media reality and the audience’s preferences and interests have forced the redrawing of the map of dealing with it in a manner consistent with the tools of the modern digital age, such as social networking sites and instant messaging applications used by more than half of humanity on planet Earth.”
The center noted that “countries invest digital platforms and are followed by millions of their people to promote their projects and enhance their development, such as government institutions in Canada, which spent $56 million on social media platforms during the period between 2016 and 2023, and Ireland, whose government institutions spent more than $1. “4 million euros on social media advertising alone during 2022, in addition to India, whose government advertising spending exceeded $4.5 million.”
The center added, “The Iraqi government’s use of social media sites and advertising influencers to raise awareness among the community and for the purposes of combating drugs, avoiding the use of bribery, rationalizing the use of electric energy and water, electronic payment, supporting the security forces, supporting the Iraqi dinar, and other national goals do not deviate from this context recently followed by countries in accordance with legal requirements subject to it.” “For financial auditing and review with full transparency.”
The Center called for “the importance of developing this experience to include other institutions and for the funds allocated for advertisements to be commensurate with the size of the challenges facing the Iraqi state, as advertising financing operations contribute to evaluating the work of government institutions on the one hand, and dry up the sources of external funding that target the state entity by exploiting the power of the media on the one hand.” Other”.
The center also affirms that “the state’s support for independent media institutions will preserve their national reach and prevent them from falling into the trap of political parties or falling into the abyss of political and financial blackmail.”
In the same context, the Center was surprised by the millions of dollars being spent on advertisements and international relations companies by officials of Iraqi political parties and entities, as recently published documents revealed, compared to the clear neglect in explaining and clarifying the strategies of the Iraqi state and enhancing its stereotypical image internally and externally.
