The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muften, confirmed that the great government support for Iraqi sports will contribute to its advancement, declaring his intention to improve performance in the Iraqi National Olympic system after difficult and irregular accumulations.
Muftin said in a statement to the Olympic Committee received by the (INA): “The investment vision and academic performance in sports work are two necessary paths for Iraq to catch up with those who came before it athletically,” pointing out “the necessity of amending a number of paragraphs of sports laws in an effort to adapt them in line with known powers.” “For all sports institutions in various countries of the region and the world, and to regulate Olympic work in its dealings with national sports federations.”
Muftin pointed out that “his direct movement with a number of representatives succeeded in obtaining an amount of five billion dinars to support the Olympic Games,” indicating that “the great government support for Iraqi sports will definitely contribute to its advancement.”
Muftin continued, “The committee will end the approach of courtesy and participation in unofficial tournaments, just as it will strongly support federations whose athletes achieve a clear official sporting achievement.” At the same time, Muftin called on the sports media to play a constructive and influential role in correcting any wrong path or decision that perpetuates the slogan of failure that is repeated because of a goal.
