Iraq obtains the position of Director General of the Arab World Institute in Paris »

The Iraqi Ambassador to France, Wadih Batti, announced today, Thursday, that Iraq has obtained the position of Director-General of the Arab World Institute in Paris.

Betty stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “the president of the institute, Jack Lang, signed the assignment letter for the candidate of Iraq and the Arab League Council, the poet and writer Shawqi Abdul Amir Al-Hamdani.” Pointing to “the great efforts made by the Iraqi embassy in Paris, with continuous follow-up by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, and under the direct supervision of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein, which culminated in reaching a complete Arab consensus on choosing Iraq’s candidate.”
He expressed his “thanks to the Dean and members of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Paris for giving confidence to the Republic of Iraq’s candidate for this position,” stressing that “Iraq is taking over the management of the institute for the first time since its founding in the 1980s by former French President Jacques Chirac, which is supervised by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
He pointed out that “Ahmed Shawqi Abdel Amir Al-Hamdani is a cultural and literary figure and has a number of books in Arabic and French, in addition to being awarded the Knight Medal by the French Ministry of Culture for the year 2023.”
