A snowstorm struck most parts of the central United States, the day after Christmas, causing delays and cancellations of dozens of flights at airports in Colorado.
David Roth, an expert at the Weather Forecast Center, said: “The weather conditions that witnessed heavy snowfall in the plains are supposed to improve slowly today, but it will be a very slow process.”
At Denver International Airport, there were 200 delays and 18 cancellations as of midday Tuesday, according to the tracking website FlightAware.
Blizzard conditions on Interstate 70, which runs from Denver to Kansas, were closed early Tuesday, but it reopened later in the morning.
There are blizzard warnings still in effect Tuesday for western parts of South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and northwestern Minnesota, along with eastern parts of Colorado and Wyoming.
