The preparatory committee for the tax system reform conference announced today, Wednesday, that the government has prioritized the economic reform file, noting that it is considered one of the general goals in light of the high government expenditures and obligations.

The head of the preparatory committee for the tax system reform conference in Iraq, Ali Razouki Al-Lami, said at the tax system reform conference, which was attended by the correspondent of the (INA): “We seek, through our conference, to enhance the economic, financial, social, political and development goals, as well as to contribute directly to covering part of A large amount of public expenditures, especially since the Iraqi economy has been suffering for decades from the problem of economic rentierism and its almost complete dependence on oil revenues, which are characterized by fluctuation due to the forces of supply and demand for crude oil in the global market.

He added, “Since the first day of the birth of this government, it has made part of its approach to address files that affect the lives of citizens, including the economic reform file, which is considered one of the general goals in light of the high government expenditures and obligations,” noting that “as part of the general reform approach followed by the government, the Speaker of the Council directed The ministers prepared a general conference to reform the tax system in Iraq, and subsequently the nomination was adopted by the Prime Minister’s Office.

He stressed that “a Diwani order was issued to form a preparatory committee to hold this conference under the slogan ‘Towards a fair tax system’,” indicating that “the above committee began its work with several meetings to complete all the requirements necessary for its success.”

He stated that “the Scientific Committee received more than 40 papers, of which 12 research papers were selected to be presented in the conference sessions,” expressing his hope that “it will come up with a set of recommendations and solutions that will have a positive impact on taxpayers, and on all economic variables that will push the wheel of development forward.” and achieving economic well-being.
