The Ministry of Oil announced today, Wednesday, that the percentage of Iraqi workers in the Rumaila field exceeded 90 percent, while indicating that companies are obligated to employ Iraqi workers for more than 85 percent.

Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad told the (INA): “The government has decided not to allocate job grades within the budgets for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025,” noting that “companies are obligated to adopt Iraqi workers at a rate of more than 85%, as the Rumaila field is the most luxurious field.” The percentage of national employment exceeded 90%.”

Jihad added, “Secondary contracting companies that work to complete a specific project rely on temporary workers for heavy work or complex technical work, in addition to their existing specializations, and each project takes years or depending on the nature of the project.”

He continued, “The main contracting companies are obligated to employ national workers in the aforementioned proportions, noting that before stopping the provision of job degrees for years, the Ministry of Oil absorbed thousands of graduates in various specializations, but everyone knows that there is great pressure not to provide opportunities, and therefore there was a refuge for graduates for years to graduate from universities.” This is their right to search for opportunities and the reason for the suffocation in the ministries, which has increased pressure on our ministry and other ministries due to the lack of investment opportunities for companies.”
