The Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee confirmed today, Tuesday, that the public-private partnership law will contribute to achieving economic development.
A statement from the media office of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, Representative Hassan Qasim Al-Khafaji, received by the (INA), stated that “The Chairman of the Parliamentary Investment and Development Committee, Representative Hassan Al-Khafaji, held a meeting with the head of the Economic Reform Unit Cell in the Prime Minister’s Office and his assistants, to discuss the workshop on preparing a draft Law of partnership between the public sector and the private sector.
During the meeting, Al-Khafaji stressed “the importance of partnership between the public sector and the private sector, because of its positive impact on developing the Iraqi economy, creating new job opportunities, and attracting foreign investments.”
He pointed out “discussing all aspects related to the partnership law between the government and private sectors, and proposing appropriate solutions to address the challenges that it may face, calling for the maturity and approval of this law,” stressing “the need for the draft law to include all the necessary guarantees to motivate the private sector to participate in partnership projects with… The public sector, including protecting its rights, ensuring fair profits, tax incentives and customs exemptions.”
He added, “Legislating the partnership law between the private and public sectors is one of the most important laws affecting the Iraqi economy. Therefore, drafting the law carefully and precisely would contribute to achieving economic and social development in the country.”
