Under the presidency of Iraq, the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries issues several decisions

The Ministry of Oil confirmed, on Tuesday, that the Council of Ministers meeting of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries issued several decisions.

A statement from the ministry, received by the (INA), stated that “the organization’s Council of Ministers held its 111th meeting in the city of Doha – the State of Qatar, with the participation of the oil and energy ministers of the member states,” noting that “the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, the Minister of Oil and the representative Iraq in the organization’s Council of Ministers, Hayyan Abdul-Ghani Al-Sawad, chaired the meeting.”

The statement added, “The attendees discussed the topics on the Ministerial Council’s agenda related to the work and activity of the organization, which included:

– The organization’s draft estimated budget for the year 2024.

– Developing and restructuring the organization’s work, while developing its activities and reconsidering the systems and laws that govern its work, in a way that is compatible with the challenges and new developments in the field of energy.

– Reviewing the steps that have been taken regarding developing the infrastructure of information technology systems within the organization.

– Follow up on the activation of the distinguished Cabinet Resolution No. (4/107) regarding the Green Middle East Initiative and adopt the application of the concept of the circular carbon economy.

– Announcing the winners of the OAPEC Prize for Scientific Research, which is awarded every two years and its field for the year 2022 is “Decarbonization Technologies in the Petroleum Industry and the Circular Economy.”

– Report of the Secretary-General on the activities of the General Secretariat, represented in the preparation of economic and technical studies, follow-up reports on global petroleum conditions, environmental affairs and climate change, the progress of work in the Information Bank, and the activities organized by the General Secretariat, in which it participated and which it will organize during the year 2024.

He continued, “The meeting issued a number of important ministerial decisions related to some of the topics on its agenda, so that the General Secretariat of the organization was responsible for putting those decisions into actual implementation.”

The Ministerial Council expressed its thanks and appreciation to the State of Qatar for hosting this meeting, which coincided with the holding of the twelfth session of the Arab Energy Conference, which the State of Qatar is hosting for the third time, and to the General Secretariat of the organization for the good organization and preparation for this meeting.
