The Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, the Director of the Islamic Arts Festival, Muhammad Ibrahim Al-Qaseer, and the Director of Public Relations at the Department, Imran Al-Qatari, opened 3 artistic works, as part of the activities of the twenty-fifth session of the festival, in the cities of Khor Fakkan and Kalba, in the presence of a large number of stakeholders and fans. Contemporary arts.

Kalba Beach hosted the artwork “Eternal Gates: The Journey of Transfiguration” by the artist Abdullah Al Neyadi from the Emirates, while the courtyards of the Khor Fakkan amphitheater were decorated with the two artworks “Hand in Hand with Sharjah” by the artists Caz Sheeran and Diana Nee from Japan and the United States, and “Al Malawiya” by the artists Karima Al Shawali from Emirates, and Iman Ibrahim from Egypt.
Al-Qusair and the audience toured the three exhibitions, learning from the artists about details that narrate the process of producing the works, their endeavor to touch the spirit of Islamic arts, and to embody the slogan of the current session, “Manifestations.”
“Eternal Gates”
Al-Qaseer and the audience also listened to the idea of ​​the artwork “Eternal Gates: The Journey of Transfiguration”, as it is a work that restores the old metal gates that used to adorn the neighborhoods of the United Arab Emirates, and their symbolism that expresses society, simplicity, vibrant colors, and exquisite metal craftsmanship, which reflects the community’s dreams of… that time. With its timeless appeal and simple yet stunning Islamic patterns, each gate tells a unique story that reflects elements of individuality and privacy while promoting a sense of unity.
“Hand in hand with Sharjah”
The Director of the Islamic Arts Festival learned about the joint work “Hand in Hand with Sharjah” between Caz Sheeran and Diana Nee, where they completed the complex work with wooden units to create a unique community gathering point, as it provides shade during the day and transforms into the appearance of a decorative lamp at night. The resulting structure captures and displays the joy in our world, and creates a backdrop for the interaction between humans and nature.
This structure consists of fifteen identical units connected to each other.
“Malawiyah”
The artists, Karima Shomali and Iman Ibrahim, worked to embody the idea of ​​​​the work “Mallawiyya” in designing one of the most beautiful minarets, “Mallawiyya”, known for its unique design that is more than a thousand years old, which made it one of the most important archaeological architectural monuments that represented the creativity of Arab Islamic architecture in Iraq, where it gained Its historical importance is due to its unique architectural style, the likes of which had never been built anywhere in the world. The minaret was built in a cylindrical, spiral shape made of clay bricks that is characteristic of Iraq, to ​​be a minaret for the largest mosques in the Islamic world at that time. The design came to embody the rise of the call to prayer to the heights of the sky with the progression of the spiral shape, as if it was trying to manifest its rise to the highest point in the sky. The earthy color also came to reflect the colors of ancient mosques and minarets built of bricks or clay bricks, which symbolize stability, strength, and connection to the earth.
