The head of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftin, confirmed today, Thursday, that the committee is very supportive of the Iraqi sports federations.
The media office of the Olympic Committee stated in a statement received by the (INA), that “The President of the Iraqi National Olympic Committee, Aqeel Muftin, visited today, Thursday, the training of the national rugby sevens team, in the presence of the president of the federation, Team Hazza, and the member of the federation, Hussein Ammar, as the rugby lions await participation in the Arab championship.” For the rugby sevens, which will be held in Saudi Arabia in the middle of next month.
Muften said, according to the statement, “The Olympic Committee is very supportive of sports federations, including the rugby union, and hopes to achieve positive results in the Arab Men’s Rugby Championship.”
He added: “We seek by all means to achieve an Olympic medal by supporting all sports, including rugby,” praising “the great efforts being made by the federation, its president Hazza, and its executive office in developing and expanding the base of the game, which is aimed at striving to appear at a distinguished level in the upcoming tournaments.” “.
For his part, Hazza thanked “the visit of the President of the Olympic Committee to the training of the men’s team, supervised by Iranian coach Hamid Reza, which will be an incentive for him and the players to achieve positive results accompanied by a good level in the Arab Championship.”
It is noteworthy that the rugby team continues its daily training in the morning and evening at the stadium of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences before entering an external camp in Iran in preparation for the Arab Championship.
